SBL3040 Schottky Barrier Rectifier Diode

 I salvaged some SBL3040 schottky barrier rectifier diodes from my old desktop power supply. These can be useful in diy switch mode power supply circuits such as DC to DC converters, that is boost converter, buck converter. They can also used used as flywheel diodes for motor drivers or other kinds of inductive loads. It is a three terminal rectifier diode rated for 30A and 40V as shown in the figure below.

Some points to remember about diodes in general on PCB is that, normal diodes will show higher voltage drop than the schottky barrier rectifier diodes. Also a normal diode has one band on the cathode side but a schottky barrier rectifier diode will have two band on the cathode side, indicating that they are two diodes with common cathode.
