Comparing TL-Link CPE510 vs Ubquiti Lite AP radios

I just wanted to write some notes on difference between two PtP and PtMP radio and antenna for WISP network deployment. I have used Ubquiti Lite AP, Lite Beam and Power Beam. Now I have started using the TP-Link wireless outdoor antenna radio such as the CPE510, CPE210, EAP110 and EAP225. The CPE510 and CPE210 are meant for long range connection which can be PtP and PtMP. The EAP110 and EAP225 are meant for wifi converage with features such as hotspot, portal based login. The Ubiquiti Lite AP is a sectored radio plus antenna. The Ubquiti Lite AP works in airmax 5AC radio mode while the CPE510 works in 802.11 5n mode. So while Lite AP can find TPl-link CPE510 5n mode, the CPE510 find the Lite AP 5AC radio mode. So these are just incompatible radios.

The Ubiquiti radios like Lite AP 5AC, Power 5AC etc are more powerful and better performance than the TP-Link CPE510 long range radio. With the Ubiquiti radio the user interface is better, has lots of more built in feature like overview of the two connected radio, which shows IP address, the throughput between the radio, the frequency band, other wifi radio frequencies during scanning, provides user to control the output power. Among other things which are both common to TP-Link and Ubiquiti radio, these are things which are not present in TP-Link CPE510. In terms of performance maybe CPE710 is closer to the Ubiquiti radio in terms of performance but I have not checked.

But I found that the ubiquiti products such as Lite AP are not that reliable. I had to repair most of them and then I also found problem during scanning SSID between two Lite APs which I wrote note on in Struggles with Ubiquiti Lite AP and PowerBeam Connections. I have been using two CPE510 PtP wireless link over 300m between my house and my office. Until now they are working fine but who knows what will happen in the future. The radio interface of CP510 is not as attractive as the Ubiquiti radio interface but for WISP reliability is more important factor.
